This lesson aims to review the clinical evidence for AF ablation therapy.

This learning has been designed to give you exposure to the key clinical data driving physician decision making regarding ablation techniques and tool choices, specifically RF versus cryoballoon.

This lesson provides learning on the following topics:

  • Introduction
  • AF Therapy Evolution
  • AF Triggers
  • Ablation Approach
  • Clinical Studies
  • Summary.

On completion of this lesson you should be able to:

  1. Describe the evolution of approaches, tools and technology for the treatment of atrial fibrillation.
  2. Recognise the importance of pulmonary vein activity and the anatomical variations relevant to ablation.
  3. Explain the current approach to AF ablation and those factors which determine the complexity of the procedure.
  4. Discuss the clinical evidence for the use of atrial fibrillation ablation therapy.

On completion of the lesson, you will then be able to take the knowledge check. This knowledge check is comprised of six multiple-choice questions.

In order to complete this lesson, you will be required to achieve a score of 80% for this assessment.
