This lesson aims to explain the techniques to gain access to the venous anatomy and the left side of the heart.

This lesson has been designed to review relevant techniques for gaining access to the venous anatomy and the left side of the hart required for Cryoablation procedures.

On completion of this lesson you should be able to:

  1. List procedures which require transseptal access
  2. Describe vascular access at the femoral vein and artery
  3. Explain the anatomical targets for transseptal access
  4. Recognise the disposable products required for vascular access and the transseptal procedure
  5. Describe the procedure flow from groin access through to puncture
  6. Display fluoroscopic or intracardiac echocardiography images applicable to the transseptal procedure.
